Zetia Description
Zetia is used to reduce the amount of cholesterin in the blood. The application of Zetia should be combined with low-fat, low-cholesterol diet for better effect. Zetia can be used in combination with other drugs lowering cholesterin. High blood campesterol and sitosterol can also be treated with Zetia.
A complete program of high cholesterol treatment includes proper nutrition, physical exercises, and weight control. Zetia can not be taken at one and the same time with some other cholesterol medicines. Thus, if you take Colestid, Questran, Prevalite or Welchol, Zetia can be taken only 4 hours after, or 2 hours before taking any of these drugs. Stanin drugs can be taken at the same time with Zetia.

A dose adjustment or special tests may be needed to those patients who have kidney disease, thyroid gland disturbance, or take hormones (including oral contraceptive) or steroid medication.

There is no reliable information about safety of Zetia to a fetus. If you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant in the course of treatment, you should inform your doctor about that.
